What Is Your Kidney Score?
For years, cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels have been common barometers for cardiovascular and overall health status. These numbers have become part of our health culture and are viewed as critical in order to live a healthy lifestyle.
However, ten to twenty million people in the United States also have chronic kidney disease and more than 100,000 people are now developing chronic kidney failure annually.
Wouldn't it be great if there was a score to measure the level of kidney function before the later stages of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)?
Actually, there is.
It's called Kidney Score.
This score along with other tests can tell your doctor how well your kidneys clean your blood. If, along with other tests, the Kidney Score indicates permanent kidney damage, you have CKD.
Undiagnosed CKD can lead to:
- collection of water in legs or in lungs
- organ damage
- weak bones
- digestive tract disorders
- heart rhythm disturbances
- high blood pressure
- anemia
- premature death
